During almost four hours of police interviews, Dennis Earl Bradford admits to abducting, raping, and nearly killing eight year old Jennifer Schuett from Dickinson. The crime happened in August 1990.
He was caught in North Little Rock, Arkansas 19 years later.
In this portion of his interview with police, investigators tell him the little girl survived and Bradford reacts with an outburst of tears.
Schuett told me she thinks Bradford is dishonestly playing for sympathy during this portion of the tape… and he knew she survived.
Bradford does later admit he saw a sketch of himself on the news just days after the crime.
Schuett claims that contradiction is proof Bradford knew all along that Schuett had survived because she is the only one who could have provided information about what the attacker looked like. There were no other witnesses.
One investigator working on the case says to this day, he is unsure if Bradford is telling the truth during this segment.
Bradford hanged himself in his jail cell earlier this month.
